CAPE TOWN SLEDDING |
RULES OF SLEDDING |
Dog sledding has 3 cardinal rules: Always be in control. This means the musher, not the dogs, set the course. Never let the gig hit the wheel dogs. A musher must constantly keep the line to the gig tight, braking when necessary, to prevent the gig from hitting the dogs from behind. Never let go of the gig. When the gig spills, it and the dogs will continue down the trail, with or without the musher. Unless there is a real danger of serious personal injury, try to hold on and regain control. |
To a musher there is no more beautiful sound than the silence of a good run Broken only by the soft sounds of the team’s breath… We remain so blessed that these amazing creatures take their humans along On their journey of indescribable magic! |
