To a beginner, the array of dog sledding equipment can be overwhelming and purchasing only the basics means a considerable investment in the sport. SPECS FOR GIGS (Teams with 4-8 dogs) A wheeled gig with 3 or 4 wheels Minimum wheel diameter 30cm for each of the 3 or 4 wheels An accepted braking device The vehicle must be stable in the upright position The vehicle must possess a locking brake A dog bag is required and the ability to carry a secured dog on the cart while the musher is sledding. This means enough platform space for both the driver and a dog.
