CAPE TOWN SLEDDING |
DOG CHECKS |
Learnt over the years...here are some tips to check your Siberians before , during AND after each run…! BEFORE A RUN Give your dog time to eliminate prior to hooking him up to the gangline. Check pads for cuts or tenderness. Warm your dog up (if possible) by running him up and down the road a couple of times to loosen his muscles—while he is still on lead. DURING A RUN Watch your dogs for any sign of stress, lameness or strange behaviour. ALWAYS err on the side of caution—if your dog does not WANT to run—listen to him…! More often than not there will be a valid reason! AFTER A RUN Check pads for cuts or tenderness. Treat if necessary. Do a simple stretch routine with both front and back legs on each dog to check for injuries . |
